Autumn newsletter (August 20th 2013)

I am pleased to inform you that the new committee has now settled into its work and has developed its ideas on the future running of the club.

Our aim remains to provide non-competitive swimming for pleasure, and the introduction the sport to beginners. We also aim to provide this through the work of volunteers with the costs of hiring the pool covered by the fees collected.

In February we paid tribute to our former committee who had run the club with outstanding success over many years: they had run the club on this basis and we wish to keep this tradition

Looking ahead we are planning to introduce a new constitution, which will underpin our efforts to acquire external funding.

We require external funding to enable the club to operate under current regulation; to provide the insurance cover for our activities; and to maintain and advance the qualifications of our poolside volunteers.

We believe this will provide a foundation for the club to retain and recruit more members.

On our Tuesday’s sessions however we are not currently collecting enough to cover the costs of pool hire. Therefore, from the beginning of September 2013, we will have to raise the charges for each swimmer to £3.50.

We are also looking for other volunteers to share the load of running the club and provide future leaders. Shortly I will e-mail details of the type of skills we need to develop the club and sustain its future.

I look forward to seeing you all after the holidays on 3rd September and, if you can, please bring along a new member.

Best regards

Bill Wolstencroft
